EXPLORE THIS COURSE

01
Study in an agency environment
Our studio is based in Shoreditch, in the heart of London’s creative district.
You will come into the workshop space and be inspired by the highly dynamic creative environment. You will be encouraged to network with other like-minded attendees to benefit your own professional development.
02
Real project, real client.
Our ‘learn by doing’ practical approach gives our students the perfect opportunity to apply what they have learnt straight away in the real world.
Early in the workshop you will be given a real project brief with a real client to work on as a small team. This gives you a taster of the ‘real’ working environment and allows you to build working relationships, practise teamwork and collaboration.
03
Practitioner-led.
Our carefully curated list of design practitioners will teach key concepts, provide feedback on exercises, answer specific questions, and share the wealth of experience they have to offer.
Benefit from valuable critique as you learn the service design process and build foundational skills through project work.
Our Getting Started with Service Design two day (in-person) workshop takes you on an interactive and exercise-led journey through the design process from start to finish and discussing everything you should think about when creating a powerful service. We will cover aspects of user research, understanding scenarios through mapping, writing problem statements, ideation techniques, multidisciplinary prototyping, service blueprinting and more.
We’ll discuss the design process, and the methods and tools that make up the service designer toolkit, and used by service designers globally. We’ll cover the core concepts, but also demonstrate the exercises and methods that designers employ daily to push services forward and make sure they’ll succeed and stand out.
Topics and concepts you will learn about on this workshop include user and stakeholder research, workshop preparation, experience maps and storyboarding. We will also look to understand opportunity prioritisation, creating future state experiences, prototyping with various methods, and how to design service design blueprints that can outline what the service plans are.
After an immersive two full days of discussion and practical exercises, you’ll be equipped with both the tools and the mindset needed to start the design of an enjoyable, end-to-end service for your customers and organisation.
The workshop will have elements of solo work and group activities, and takes place inside our design studio in Shoreditch, London.
With service design a growing area within the experience design realm, this workshop will be suitable for current UX or Product Designers looking to understand more about designing services, anyone already in the service design space looking to refresh core skills, or anyone already working within management, consulting, design or technology looking to understand how to build seamless service experiences.
If you are unsure whether this workshop is for you, please simply get in touch and we’re happy to discuss it more in detail.

I was looking for a way to learn by doing, and Dave’s style of teaching was exactly that. He would explain everything well and always leave space for us to explore things by ourselves.

My highlight were the teachings and support we got from the instructor – I learnt so much from him and still use the work we covered and notes he provided in my new role now!

You have questions? we have the answers.
Despite the demand for Service Designers is growing, this doesn’t mean it will be easy to immediately land a job. Like all design fields, it is extremely important to get hands on experience. This can be done either by joining a course, or even by developing your own design challenges. A good task to set yourself is tore-design a service that really frustrates you. With an increasingly competitive market, it’s important that you stand out from the crowd and maximise your chances of success. At Experience Haus you can book in a 1:1 call with one of our instructors to discuss our course in more detail, and how it might help you on your Service Design journey.
No, our courses are open to anyone. Whilst some of our students have studied or worked in design-related fields, many have very little experience (if any). We’ve had everyone from very senior industrial and digital designers with over 10 years’ experience to paramedics, lawyers, police and coffee shop baristas!
Yes, during the course you will be assigned to an actual client to work on a real project and at the end you will be presenting this work to your client.
We offer three payment options for all of our courses. You can pay in full and save 10% off the regular price; you can spread the cost by paying in 3 instalments taken during the course; or you can apply for an interest-free loan through our finance partner, Knoma (please get in contact with enrol@experiencehaus.com for more details)
If you have taken any courses with us before, you will save 20% off the regular price.
This changes from time to time during the course but at least 2 hours minimum to up to 6 hours maximum during the week.
There isn’t one! To secure your space on a course all you have to do is book via our website or by contacting enrol@experiencehaus.com and telling us which programme you’d like to do. For those doing our larger courses, you’ll then get the chance to speak with one of our instructors and talk through your objectives, previous experience and how we might best support you during your time with us.
We primarily use Figma because it is one of the most intuitive, collaborative and inclusive prototyping and design programs available. Students can easily share their work and co-create on the same canvases through their web browser in real-time, without needing to download an application and suffer compatibility issues. Figma is also fast-becoming the industry standard and norm – although this changes quickly!
Purchases are non-refundable, except at the discretion of Experience Haus Ltd. Typically, cancellations or refund requests received 14 days prior to the start of a course or workshop will be honoured. However, due to the complex nature of the service being provided this cannot be guaranteed, and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. This policy does not include deposits, all of which are non-refundable.
Provided you give us enough notice, we are happy for you to change courses once you’ve booked.
All students receive a digital Haus course completion certificate at the end of the course. The course is recognised in regards to Experience Haus being an industry recognised brand for best UX design courses in UK.
No – the briefs are selected to help you apply your learnings in the best way and create a great portfolio piece. We cannot change the brief that has been selected for you as we want this to be as real life as possible, where you don’t always choose what you work on and would need to deliver the project regardless of personal preference.
